Eskom, South Africa’s largest utility company asked The Brand Union to assist them in attracting new interest locally and globally.
"The new corporate identity has been well received by the organisation and stakeholders. We believe it reflects Eskom’s new strategic intent, as well as our desired market position.”
Zahn Matthee, Eskom Corporate Brand Manager.
The Brand Union was commissioned to re-designed the branding and corporate identity for Eskom with a view to repositioning the utility organisation as an international player and aligning the Eskom brand with long-term business goals.
This project was an exciting challenge for The Brand Union because Eskom was the first large utilities organisation prepared to take a strong existing house style and evolve it into something new. We believe that this willingness to reassess itself has set Eskom apart from its competitors and other large corporations and utilities.
While Eskom wanted to retain its current client base in Africa, it also wanted to attract new interest locally and globally. To achieve this, it was necessary to maintain some elements of the existing identity and then to evolve it into something more dynamic.
Implementation of the new branding began in June 2002, starting with Megawatt Park and then rolling out to all the power stations countrywide.
