We were tasked with creating a brand that would stand out in the local (and West African) market and demonstrate the company’s aim to provide excellent service. The new identity also needed to indicate the break away from being a previously government owned organisation.
The Brand Union was responsible for the naming of Oando, shortening the company’s original request of Ocean and Oil to a simpler version – Oando. The re-branding exercise involved a complete overhaul of the petroleum brand and repositioning within the Nigerian market. Oando’s corporate identity is strong and compelling, based on concrete strategy.

The Brand Union also designed the corporate interiors, petrol station forecourts, convenience store interiors and signage for Oando. The brand was successfully launched and 120 stations’ branding unveiled overnight, creating a great deal of hype and increased awareness in the market.
